“Tarih Araştırma Serisi”nin birincisi olan bu kitap, değerli tarih bilimcilerimizden Halil İnalcık, Halil Sahillioğlu, Mehmet Genç ve İlber Ortaylı’nın 27-28 Mayıs 2005 tarihlerinde İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından düzenlenen “Türk Tarihçiliğinde Dört Sima” başlıklı uluslararası sempozyum bildirilerinden oluşmaktadır.

In this way, the scientific analysis and interpretation of Ottoman history came out of the monopoly of Western historians. This book, which is the winner of the “History Research Series”, is composed of international symposium titled “Four Landmarks in Turkish Historiography” organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality of our valuable scientists Halil İnalcık, Halil Sahillioğlu, Mehmet Genç and İlber Ortaylı on 27-28 May, 2005.
